Rakuten Mobile campaigns.
There are so many that it’s hard to tell what differs from what. I can’t tell either.
This article sorts out what the official pages say as of November 4, 2026.
One thing up front: this site uses a Rakuten Mobile referral link. I’ll write about the strict conditions and the cautions without hiding them.
The 30-Second Summary
- The employee referral (this site’s link) gives you the most. 14,000 points for switching, 13,000 for a new line. Even if you already have a Rakuten Mobile contract, it works up to your 5th line
- The main “First-time Sign-up Campaign” is the same as in October. 10,000 points for switching, 9,000 points for a new contract
- The FamilyMart 20x points deal ended on October 31. But a separate 20x deal (Round 6) at other stores runs until December 31
- A mobile shop truck (“Caravan Car”) is parked at FamilyMart stores. Get a quote and receive a 1,000-yen reward (until November 28)
- Four iPad models went on sale on October 29
What Changed Since October
What ended
The FamilyMart x Rakuten Mobile 20x points campaign ended on October 31.
However, the SPU deal that gives +0.5x on Rakuten Ichiba when you spend 3,000 yen (tax in) or more per month at FamilyMart continues. No entry is needed.
What started
- iPad sales began (October 29): iPad mini, iPad, iPad Pro, iPad Air — four models
- Caravan Car at FamilyMart parking lots (October 30 to November 28): get a quote and answer a survey to receive 1,000 Rakuten points or a 1,000-yen FamilyMart shopping voucher. I wrote the details in a separate article
What continues (easy to miss)
- 20x points at selected stores (Round 6): until 23:59 on December 31. The stores are 16 drugstore chains, including Tsuruha Drug, Kusuri no Fukutarou, and Kyourindo, plus 2 supermarket chains including Town Plaza Kanehide. The cap is 500 points per person, granted around the end of February 2027. The “20x” means +19x on top of the usual rate
First, the Conclusion: the Employee Referral Pays More
Before the First-time Sign-up Campaign, there’s something I want to write first.
The links on this site are employee referral links. And the employee referral pays more points than the First-time Sign-up Campaign.
| Type of application | First-time Sign-up | Employee referral |
|---|---|---|
| Switching from another carrier (MNP) | 10,000 points | 14,000 points |
| New contract | 9,000 points | 13,000 points |
There’s one more big difference.
The employee referral works up to your 5th line. Even if you already have a Rakuten Mobile contract, you’re covered — for example, by adding a line for a family member or a second device. The First-time Sign-up Campaign is, as the name says, only for those signing up for the first time.
A few cautions:
- The referral and the First-time Sign-up Campaign can’t be combined. If you’re choosing one, I recommend the referral, which pays more
- The flow of the conditions is almost the same: log in via the link, apply for and start a plan, and make a call of 10 seconds or more on Rakuten Link. Miss any one of them and you’re out
- The points come in installments as limited-time points. Check the conditions on the official page too, so you don’t miss out
The Main One: The First-time Sign-up Campaign (Same as October)
Here is what the official page says. As of November 4, it is unchanged from October.
| Type of application | Points | Breakdown |
|---|---|---|
| Switching from another carrier (MNP) | 10,000 points | 3 installments: 4,000, 3,000, 3,000 |
| New contract | 9,000 points | 5 installments: 2,000 x 4 and 1,000 |
It’s for Rakuten members applying for Rakuten Saikyo Plan or Rakuten Saikyo U-NEXT for the first time. The benefit is limited to once per person. The data-only type is not eligible.
The end date of the boosted period is “undecided”. The content may change or the campaign may end without notice.
6 Pitfalls That Make You Miss the Points
These are the same as what I wrote in the October edition. Just the key points:
- Enter in the same month as your application. Entry after applying is not eligible. If the month changes, enter again
- Start using the service by 23:59 on the last day of the month after you apply. Just applying doesn’t make you eligible
- Make a call of 10 seconds or more on Rakuten Link. Calls to 0570 numbers and # dial numbers are not counted
- Points are not granted automatically. You claim each installment from the notice that arrives around the end of the month after next
- The MNP reservation number needs at least 10 days of validity remaining. If your carrier supports the One-Stop method, you don’t need one
- Some campaigns can’t be combined. The switching and new-contract versions exclude each other, and neither combines with the referral campaign
I wrote the details of each in the October edition of this roundup.
In Store: Reserve a Visit and Get a Draw for Up to 2,000 Points
The shop-only campaign (campaign code 2981) continues in November.
- Three steps: reserve a visit from each shop page, visit and ask for a quote, and enter at the store
- A draw: 1st prize 2,000 points, 2nd prize 1,500 points, 3rd prize 1,000 points. No blanks
- From the store opening on October 1, 2026. No end date is given
- Once per person. Limited-time points, valid for 6 months including the grant date
Separately, at selected shops there’s a campaign with a draw for prizes worth up to 2,000 yen when you get a quote. Shop-only.
At shops nationwide, a quote plus a survey gets you 1,000 points or a 1,000-yen reward as well. It started on October 1, 2026, with no end date set. I summarized how to find participating stores in the Caravan Car article.
Devices (As Listed on the Overview Page)
The official campaign overview page lists campaigns like these. Check each campaign’s page for the details of amounts and conditions.
- iPhone 18 Pro and others: up to 40,000 points when you meet the conditions (entry required)
- iPhone 17e (256GB): 1 yen/month with switching plus 48-installment payment by Rakuten Card
- iPhone 17 (256GB): 999 yen/month under the same conditions
- iPhone 16 (128GB): 500 yen/month under the same conditions
- Android: some models for 1 yen with switching and the purchase of an eligible product
- Galaxy S26 series: up to 23,000 points with a first-time sign-up, switching, and purchase. 7,000 points for a device upgrade
- iPad: sales of four models began on October 29
- Apple Watch: 3,300 points with purchase plus the Phone Number Share service (web only, entry required)
Device discounts have a wording to watch out for. The overview page has notations like “lower monthly price for payments 1 to 24, higher from payment 25 onward”. Many also require 48 installment payments. Don’t just look at the monthly price right now. Check the total you’ll pay.
For Current Users (No Switching Needed)
- 20x at drugstores and more: until December 31. Entry required, cap of 500 points
- Rakuten Mobile quiz: 100 points just for answering
- SPU: Rakuten Ichiba shopping at 5x every day. The Rakuten Mobile portion adds +4x (monthly cap 2,000 points, entry required)
- Carrier billing: 2,000 yen or more in a month adds +2x on Rakuten Ichiba (entry required)
- First time paying your monthly fee with points: the redemption rate is tripled (entry required)
- YouTube Premium: first 3 months free (not if you’ve used it before)
- Rakuten Bank savings interest: goes up with Rakuten Mobile use (entry required)
- Sports: ticket and point perks at Vissel Kobe and Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles games
The overview page also lists campaigns that give points for signing up for Rakuten Card, Rakuten Bank, or Rakuten Denki at the same time.
What to Check Before You Apply
There are things to check before the campaign amounts.
- Whether your home and workplace are in Rakuten’s own network area. The au roaming arrangement ended at the end of September 2026. For details, see the article on what changes now that au roaming has ended
- Whether your device is compatible. See the articles on how to check frequency bands and how to check for a SIM lock
- Payment method. In some cases you can apply even without a credit card. See the guide to applying for Rakuten Mobile without a credit card
- How to use your points. Limited-time points have an expiry. See the article on the rules for using limited-time points
No matter how many points a campaign gives you, it means nothing if you get no signal at home.
Summary
- The employee referral (this site’s link) pays the most: 14,000 points for switching, 13,000 for a new line. It works up to your 5th line, even if you already have a contract
- The First-time Sign-up Campaign is the same as October: 10,000 points for switching (3 installments), 9,000 points for a new contract (5 installments)
- The FamilyMart 20x ended. The drugstore 20x runs until December 31, with a 500-point cap
- In stores, the visit-reservation draw (no blanks) and the quote-based rewards run side by side
- For devices, the iPhone 18 Pro’s 40,000 points is the headline. Four iPad models also went on sale
- Before you apply, check the signal where you actually live (is it Rakuten’s own area?) and your device’s compatibility
This article is based on what the official pages say (the campaign overview reflects information as of November 4, 2026). Campaigns change without notice, so be sure to check the latest details on the official pages before you apply.
The links on this site are Rakuten Group employee referral links. The referral campaign and the First-time Sign-up Campaign can’t be combined. If you sign up through this site’s link, the higher referral benefit (14,000 points for switching, 13,000 for a new line) is what applies. Please check the details yourself, on the application screen and the official pages.
