Rakuten Mobile Campaign Roundup (October 2026): The Conditions and Pitfalls of 10,000 Points for Switching and 9,000 for New Lines

Rakuten Mobile campaigns.

There are so many that it’s hard to tell what differs from what. I can’t tell either.

This article sorts out what the official pages say as of October 6, 2026.

One thing up front: this site uses a Rakuten Mobile referral link. I’ll write about the strict conditions and the cautions without hiding them.

The 30-Second Summary

The Main One: The First-time Sign-up Campaign

Here is what the official page says (for applications from 0:00 on October 1, 2026).

Type of applicationPointsBreakdown
Switching from another carrier (MNP)10,000 points3 installments: 4,000, 3,000, 3,000
New contract9,000 points5 installments: 2,000 x 4 and 1,000

It’s for Rakuten members applying for Rakuten Saikyo Plan or Rakuten Saikyo U-NEXT for the first time. The benefit is limited to once per person. The data-only type is not eligible.

The page says the end date of the boosted period is “undecided”. It also says the content may change or the campaign may end without notice.

6 Pitfalls That Make You Miss the Points

This is the part I most want to get across. More than the amount, not getting the points because you missed a condition hurts far more.

(1) Enter in the same month as your application

Entry is required. It has to be done in the same month as the application, and entry after applying is not eligible. If the month changes, you need to enter again.

For applications made in a store, it says entry makes no difference.

(2) Start using the service by 23:59 on the last day of the month after you apply

Just applying doesn’t make you eligible. You need to start using the plan by the deadline.

(3) Make a call of 10 seconds or more on Rakuten Link

By the same deadline, you need to make a call of 10 seconds or more from the Rakuten Link app on the line you applied for.

However, calls to 0570 and other numbers that connect to other carriers, ♯ dial numbers, numbers with a prefix, and 188 are not counted.

(4) Points are not granted automatically

It is neither a lump sum nor automatic granting.

For example, if you meet the conditions in October, the first notice would come around the end of December.

The points you receive are limited-time points, valid until the end of the month 3 months after the notice date.

(5) Validity period of the MNP reservation number

For switching, it says the MNP reservation number needs at least 10 days of validity remaining. If your carrier supports the One-Stop method, you don’t need a reservation number.

(6) Some campaigns can’t be combined

The switching campaign and the new-contract campaign can’t be combined with each other. It also says referral campaigns and others can’t be combined.

The official page has a list of campaigns that can be combined (such as iPhone and Android purchase campaigns).

Main Examples of Ineligibility

The official page says you may be ineligible in cases like the following.

The definition of “first-time” is detailed, so if you’ve ever had a Rakuten Mobile contract, check the official page.

In Store: Reserve a Visit and Get a Quote, Up to 2,000 Points

There’s also a shop-only campaign (campaign code 2981).

The page doesn’t state the odds of winning or the list of participating stores. Some shops don’t accept visit reservations.

Devices and Other Campaigns (As Listed on the Overview Page)

The official campaign overview page lists other campaigns like these. Check each campaign’s page for the details of amounts and conditions.

Device discounts have a wording to watch out for. The overview page has notations like “lower monthly price for payments 1 to 24, higher from payment 25 onward”. Many also require 48 installment payments. Don’t just look at the monthly price right now. Read the conditions through to what the payments look like from the 25th onward.

What to Check Before You Apply

There are things to check before the campaign amounts.

No matter how many points a campaign gives you, it means nothing if you get no signal at home.

Summary

This article is based on what the official pages say (the First-time Sign-up Campaign page reflects information as of October 1, 2026). Campaigns change without notice, so be sure to check the latest details on the official pages before you apply.

The links on this site are Rakuten Group employee referral links. As written above, the referral campaign and the First-time Sign-up Campaign are said to be not combinable. Please check for yourself, on the application screen and the official pages, which one applies.
